Cellar Door is Alameda’s new destination for a great food and wine experience. Located next door to the new Alameda Theatre and parking complex, Chef Saboor Zafari has created a concept that combines a wine shop and tasting room with a large menu of appetizers and sampling plates designed to be shared while enjoying one of the over 100 wine selections served by the glass, bottle, or carafe. Making this experience more unique are the TasteVin iPad winelists that allow restaurant guests to shop the wine market from the comfort of their seats. These iPads contain tasting notes, pairing recommendations, and even allow the patrons to order bottles from the market that can be brought to their table and served for a small corkage fee ($8). Also adding to the unique wine experience are twelve wines on tap served by the glass, half carafe and full carafe. These keg wines are part of the new wine on tap movement and include such reputable labels as Hahn Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay, Jordan J, and Smith & Hook Cooney Vineyard Merlot.

If you are on your way to a movie, and just want to stop in for a quick glass of wine, you can relax at the wine bar and sample some of the many daily wine flights designed to showcase a large variety of New and Old World Wines. You can even order a bottle, drink half of it, and ask the market to hold it for you while you go enjoy your movie, and then pick it up afterwards.
